Day Twenty Three
The universe adores repetition. So do I.
One simple truth a yogi learns from chanting mantra is how powerful words are when they are repeated over and over. Words gain power through repetition. Something can manifest into being simply because its name, its word, is repeated over and over and over and over.
I’ve been chanting the Ik Acharee Chand mantra so much that I caught my six-year-old daughter repeating it while we were driving over the Bay Bridge into Coronado over the weekend. I joined in with her chanting, and we chanted nonstop through the whole twenty minute car ride. Wind was blowing our hair. Sun was shining on our faces. We were looking out beyond the bay to the expansive horizon of the Pacific Ocean, and we were chanting with glee:
Ajai Alai Abhai Abai Abhoo Ajoo Anaas Akaas Aganj Abhanj Alakh Abhakh Akaal Dyaal Alaykh Abhaykh Anaam Akaam Agaahaa Adaahaa Anaathay Pramaathay Ajonee Amonee Na Raagay Na Rangay Na Roopay Na Raykay Akaramang Abharamang Aganjay Alaykhay
My whole being beams delight savoring this moment of spontaneous chanting with a joyful child. I suppose we just never know when Beloved Creation is going to surprise us with Its unspeakable happiness. May the intense sweetness and delight I experienced in this moment expand, extend, and repeat itself into every being that I have ever touched and every being I will encounter in all my days!
Please join me in practicing this meditation for 11 minutes a day for 40 days: Meditation to Develop the Radiant Body.
Question for reflection:
How can I write, speak, and think in such a way as to acknowledge and bless the blaze of light that is in every word?
